So many spooktacular costumes in 2nd Class today! Have a safe and wonderful midterm everyone.

We have had a wonderful first half-term in 2nd class. It has been a great mix of busy and fun. Today we enjoyed our Pyjama Day reward and even had some additional teddy bear stundents join the class for the day. Well done 2nd class on working toward your goal and coming up with a nice way to celebrate. Keep up the good work!

2nd class became toy makers and designers creating their very own paper dolls with moving arms and legs. They then got to work with a mixture of fabrics and textures to create some magnificent outfits. They worked really hard on their pieces and really enjoyed the process. After we completed our dolls, we looked at the explanation genre of writing and collaboratively wrote a piece tiled “How Paper Dolls Work”.

We were learning about “Mo Chorp” in Gaeilge and decided it would be fun to create and label pictures of ourselves on our own abstract art backgrounds. We painted a pattern of our choice, made a fun pose for a photo and then teacher printed them out. We cut out our photos and glued them down before labeling. They really brighten up our classroom!

For maths week, we teamed up with our Buddies in 3rd class and explored different aspects of numeracy in our own school yard. We measured distance and time, noticed patterns, created number sentences and sketched basic maps of our play area, locating different items around us.

This morning our assembly was hosted for us by 2nd Class. It was Jersey Day for Goal so we were all wearing our favourite jerseys. Some were wearing jerseys from the teams or clubs they belong to. Others wore jerseys of teams they support. There were pupils who wore jerseys to represent the clubs they attend – scouts, boys and girl’s brigade and stage and dance schools. It was a very happy and colourful morning.
We remembered the charity we were supporting and the work they do to support the very many children and families all over the world who live in poverty and do not enjoy all the opportunities that we all have.
We sang ‘This little light of mine’ and Ms Moloney gave out all the awards.
We are all looking forward to a fun filled weekend!
