Senior infants have been busy in the garden centre again this week. They have continued to learn about mini beasts and even wrote their own fact files. Take a look at the magnifying mini beasts art which they completed with chalk pastels! We are all still patiently waiting for our chicks to hatch 🐣

It has been a busy few weeks in Senior Infants. Ms. Clarke brought up some eggs from a farm in Sligo. We put them into an incubator and we are hoping that some chickens will hatch in three weeks time. It is very exciting!

Senior Infants have been practicing the skill of throwing in P.E. We have learned how to do and under arm throw and an over arm throw.

In Aistear, Senior Infants have been working in the Garden Centre. They have planted cress seeds and are serving customers all day long. They have learned all about the lifecycle of plants and what they need to grow.

This week, Senior Infants learned all about abstract art and the Russian artist “Kandinsky”. We then responded to his art by creating our own Valentines art using his painting Concentric Circles as inspiration.

We learned all about Chinese New Year and create Chinese lanterns with our buddies.

The children were very busy in Aistear making different animals out of play dough and Lego and acting in role as the vet.

Senior Infants have been working extremely hard the last two weeks. We have been working on the strand of gymnastics in P.E and have been practicing our pencil rolls, bear walks and jumping skills.

In art, we used cereal boxes to create our own houses which were very creative. We also designed a new house for the old lady in the story “A Squash and a Squeeze”.

In Literacy, we have been practicing our sounds and writing sentences.We brainstormed the number 9 in maths and I was incredibly impressed with all the maths talk senior infants were using!

We started the theme of “The Vets” in Aistear which has been lots of fun and we are enjoying learning about lots of different zoo animals and the job of a Zookeeper. Well done Senior Infants on all your hard work☺️

Senior Infants have all settled back well after the Christmas Holidays. They were excited to be back in school to see all their friends and tell lots of stories about their Christmas. In Aistear we have moved onto the topic of the estate agents. The children have been busy making houses out of clay and Lego and working hard in the Estate Agents office. Well done Senior Infants for all your hard work!

Senior Infants have had such a busy few weeks! We were making and decorating ginger bread men in Aistear and working in Santa’s Workshop. We made snowflake paintings using sponges in Art and were sorting 3D shapes in Maths.

We had a very cool robot dog come to visit us and show us lots of cool tricks that it could do.

We finished off our four weeks of GAA which was lots of fun and we all learned lots of new skills.

We had lots of fun with our buddies doing an outdoor maths hunt and Christmas Crafts.

Senior Infants made Christmas cards and took a trip to the post office to post them home to their families 🎄

To get us in the Christmas Spirit and as a reward for all our hard work, we watched the Pantomime online and had a hot chocolate party!

Well done to everybody in Senior Infants for all their hard work this term. I hope everybody has a Happy and Magical Christmas!

Senior Infants have been working really hard over the past two weeks. They learned lots of ‘Bia’ vocabulary in Irish and wrote líosta siopadóireachta and even illustrated a menu!

In art, we made 2D shape monster which looked really cool and we drew elves on the shelf.

We have been really enjoying doing GAA every Tuesday and dance in P.E.

Some groups made cupcakes and the whole class made ‘funny face biscuits’ on Friday using a recipe from our readers.

On Friday, we put up our Christmas tree. We did a super job 🎄Keep up the good work Senior Infants ☺️

Senior Infants have been having lots of fun over the last two weeks. We received our “Picker Pals” pack in the post which we were very excited about and can’t wait to get started on. Everybody is looking forward to having their turn of bringing it home and helping the environment.

In maths, we have been learning all about the number 6 and 2D shapes. We have been working really hard on our reading and writing in English and learning some new sounds with two letters. In Gaelige, we have been learning lots of new ‘food’ words.

For art, we did printing with fruit which was lots of fun and our pictures came out really colourful!

Senior Infants started the new theme of “The Café” in Aistear which has been great fun. Some groups even got to bake and make some cupcakes which they then got to decorate!

In P.E. we have been working really hard on the skill of balancing. It has been tricky but we are practicing really hard.

This week was science week! Senior Infants had lots of fun doing experiments. We even did an assembly for the school about science week and talked about all the cool things we learned. Take a look at the video below to see what we got up to! 🧪

Senior infants have had a busy two weeks. Last week was Maths week. We had lots of fun playing games, doing a traffic survey, using the iPads and making 2D shape pictures with our buddies. Have a look at the video below to see what we got up to!

We had lots of Halloween fun also. We carved pumpkins, had a ‘witch drive’ with our buddies and dressed up in spooky costumes which all looked amazing! I hope everybody has a lovely midterm break ☺️🎃

This week in Senior Infants we painted squirrels in art and gave them big bushy tails using crepe paper. Everybody worked so hard on their squirrels and they came out amazing! We did some orienteering in P.E. and have been working hard on our number words in maths so we can read them. We have been making spooky pumpkins in Aistear and writing lots of potions and spells. We learned the song “Sé Ulchabhán” in Irish which has become a firm favourite!

Senior Infants have been working so hard this week. We were working on time in maths by putting pictures in the correct order and sorting into morning, afternoon, evening and night. On Tuesday, Senior Infants were very lucky to get to go on a trip to the library to play some fun literacy games. Everybody was on their best behaviour and we all had so much fun!

We painted Autumn trees in art using paint and cotton buds. We picked our colours very carefully to make sure they looked like autumn trees.

We started the theme of “The Witches’ Den” in Aistear which has been lots of fun. We have been writing our own potions, creating Halloween themed art and using our play dough to create spooky things.

In Gaeilge, we have been learning some new Halloween vocabulary and playing lots of games to help us remember our new words.

It has been so much fun this week and I am very proud of all of Senior Infants!

Senior Infants have been busy this week with working on cvc words and character descriptions. They also made lots of cool and interesting patterns using different objects. For National Fitness Day, we had P.E. with our buddies which was lots of fun! In Geography, we discussed our journey to school and drew our own maps to show some of the things we pass. In art, we learned about the three primary colours and practiced mixing them to make new colours for our colour wheel umbrellas. Take a look below at all our wonderful work ☺️
